Keratin Treatment at The Warehouse Salon: Smooth, Manageable Hair That Lasts
If you've been dealing with frizz, puffiness, or hair that fights you every morning, a keratin treatment might be exactly what you need. At The Warehouse Salon, we use professional-grade keratin systems that smooth the hair cuticle, reduce styling time, and give you manageable, shiny hair that holds up through humidity and daily wear. Book your consultation to see if keratin is right for your hair.
This service works for most hair types, whether you have wavy hair you want straighter, curly hair you want more controlled, or just frizz-prone hair that needs taming. The results last 3 to 5 months depending on your hair texture and how you care for it at home.
Why clients choose keratin treatment at The Warehouse Salon
We customize the formula to your hair. Not all keratin treatments are the same. We assess your hair texture, porosity, and your styling goals during the consultation, then choose the smoothing strength that fits. If you want to keep some wave or curl, we can do that. If you want maximum straightness, we adjust accordingly. Our approach is similar to how we customize color formulas based on your hair's starting point and your end goal.
You'll cut your styling time in half. Most clients tell us they go from 20-30 minutes of blow-drying and flat-ironing down to 10 minutes or less. The treatment makes hair dry faster and stay smooth with less heat, which is better for your hair long-term. If you've been using a flat iron daily just to control frizz, keratin gives you that smooth result without the heat damage.
It's a reset for damaged hair. Keratin treatments rebuild the protein structure in your hair shaft. If your hair is damaged from color, heat styling, or chemical treatments, this service smooths the cuticle and seals in moisture. Your hair will feel softer and look shinier within the first week. Think of it as a strengthening treatment that also happens to eliminate frizz.
What to expect
The full appointment takes 2 to 3 hours depending on your hair length and thickness. Here's how it works.
We start with a clarifying shampoo to remove any product buildup, oil, or residue. Clean hair lets the keratin penetrate properly. After towel-drying, we apply the keratin formula section by section, making sure every strand is saturated from root to tip. The product goes on wet and has a slightly chemical smell at this stage, but it's not overwhelming.
Once the product is in, we blow-dry your hair completely smooth. This step activates the keratin and locks it into the hair shaft. You'll notice your hair already looks smoother and shinier at this point, even before the flat iron. After the blow-dry, we flat-iron small sections at a controlled temperature to seal everything in. The flat-ironing is what makes the treatment last, it's not optional. The flat-iron step smells slightly of protein as the keratin cures, that's normal and fades within a day.
You leave with smooth, straight hair. For the first 48 to 72 hours, you can't wash your hair, tie it up, tuck it behind your ears, or get it wet. This is the curing period. The keratin is still bonding to your hair, and any crease or moisture will set into the final result. After 72 hours, you shampoo with a sulfate-free formula and style as usual. The smoothness stays.
Aftercare mistakes that shorten your results
The treatment itself is only half the equation. How you care for your hair afterward determines whether you get 3 months or 5 months out of it.
Using sulfate shampoo. This is the fastest way to strip keratin out of your hair. Sulfates break down the protein bonds we just rebuilt. Switch to a sulfate-free shampoo the day you wash your hair for the first time after treatment, and stay with it until the keratin grows out completely.
Washing too often. Every wash removes a small amount of keratin. If you're washing daily, you'll shorten the treatment's lifespan by weeks. Most clients can go 2 to 3 days between washes once the keratin is in. Dry shampoo helps extend that.
Skipping heat protectant. Keratin makes your hair more heat-tolerant, but it's not invincible. If you're still using hot tools regularly, a heat protectant spray keeps the cuticle sealed and the keratin intact longer.
Pricing
Keratin treatment pricing varies by hair length, thickness, and texture. See our service menu for current rates, or book a consultation and we'll give you an exact quote after we see your hair in person.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will a keratin treatment make my hair completely straight?
It depends on the formula strength and your natural texture. Most keratin treatments reduce frizz and loosen curl patterns by 50 to 80 percent, but they don't make hair bone-straight unless you start with fairly straight hair. If you want maximum straightness, tell us during the consult and we'll use a stronger formula. If you're considering a Brazilian Blowout instead, that's a good conversation to have during your consultation as well.
Can I color my hair before or after a keratin treatment?
Color first, keratin second. If you're planning to color, do it at least one week before your keratin appointment. The clarifying shampoo we use at the start of the treatment can lighten fresh color slightly. After the treatment, wait at least two weeks before coloring again.
How long does a keratin treatment last?
Most clients see results for 3 to 5 months. Fine hair tends to revert faster; coarse or curly hair holds the treatment longer. How you care for it at home makes a big difference. Sulfate shampoos strip keratin faster, so switching to a sulfate-free formula extends the life of the treatment.
Can I wash my hair the same day?
No. You need to wait 48 to 72 hours before getting your hair wet, depending on the formula we use. During that time, keep your hair down and dry. Don't work out, don't tie it back, don't tuck it behind your ears. Any bend or crease will set permanently.
Will it damage my hair?
No. Keratin treatments are a reconstructive service, not a damaging one. The treatment adds protein back into your hair, smooths the cuticle, and seals moisture in. Your hair will feel softer and look shinier after the treatment, not more damaged.
Do I need to use special products at home?
Yes. Sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner are required if you want the treatment to last its full lifespan. Sulfates strip keratin out of the hair shaft, cutting your results short by weeks or even months. We'll recommend products that work well and explain what to avoid during your appointment.
