Hair color at The Warehouse Salon covers grey coverage, root color, all-over color, men's color, color correction and vivid fashion shades. Both our DeLand, FL and Fairfield, NJ salons offer color, and each formula is planned around your tone, your hair history and how often you want to be in the chair.
Looking for highlights or balayage? Those have their own pages: highlights and balayage.
What hair color services do you offer?
Our color menu runs from quick touch-ups to full changes. Here are the main services:
- Single process or root color, to cover grey or refresh your natural shade as it grows in.
- Hairline touch-up, to blend greys at the front and part between full appointments.
- All-over color at DeLand, for a full change of shade or depth.
- Double process, lightening and then toning for an all-over light color from the root.
- Men's color, a soft overall tone that covers or blends grey.
- Color correction and fashion color, planned at a consultation first.
Current pricing is on our service menu.
What is a single process or root color?
A single process is one color applied to the roots, which is the most common way to cover grey or keep your natural shade fresh as your hair grows. It takes about an hour at both salons.
Your stylist mixes the formula to match the rest of your hair, so the new growth blends in rather than showing a line. If you are not sure which shade to ask for, bring a photo or ask for a consultation first.
What is a hairline touch-up?
A hairline touch-up colors only the front hairline and your part, where grey tends to show first. It takes about 50 minutes at both salons.
It is a good bridge between full color visits, and it keeps the most visible areas looking fresh. It does not replace a full root color, so your stylist may suggest alternating the two.
How long does hair color take?
Time depends on how much hair is being colored and what your hair has been through. These are typical appointment lengths:
- Men's color: about 30 minutes.
- Hairline touch-up: about 50 minutes.
- Single process or root color: about an hour.
- All-over color at DeLand: about an hour and a half.
- Double process: about two hours.
Color correction and fantasy color take longer, usually around four hours, and we plan those at a consultation.
What is all-over color, and who is it for?
All-over color is root-to-tip color for a full change of shade or depth. It is offered at our DeLand salon, and it suits guests who want to go richer, darker or simply different from their natural color.
What is a double process, and do I need one?
A double process lightens the hair first, then tones it, to create an all-over light color from the root. It takes about two hours, and toner is booked separately.
It is the right choice when you want one even, light shade rather than dimension. If you want brightness with a softer grow-out, balayage or highlights may suit you better.
Should I add a gloss or toner?
A gloss or toner shifts or refreshes tone and adds shine, which is why it works well for blondes and brunettes between color visits. It takes about 35 minutes and can be added to a color service. You can read more on our hair gloss page.
If your color looks brassy or dull, the fix is a visit to the salon, where your stylist chooses the right tone for your hair. Color-safe shampoo and conditioner help your color last longer at home, but they do not replace the service. Browse shampoo and conditioner for the right care.
Do you do men's color?
Yes, at both salons. Men's color is an overall tone that softens or covers grey and keeps a natural finish. It takes about 30 minutes, and it pairs easily with a men's haircut from our cutting and styling menu.
What if my color went wrong?
Color correction is a step-by-step plan to fix banding, brass or a color that did not turn out the way you wanted. Both salons offer it, and it begins with a consultation about your hair history, including past color, box dye and any treatments.
A correction can take about four hours, and sometimes more than one visit. Your stylist will tell you what is realistic before any color goes on, so you know the plan and the timing. A conditioning treatment is often added to keep hair strong through the process.
Do you offer fashion colors?
Yes. At DeLand, fantasy color covers vivid and pastel shades, usually on pre-lightened hair, and it takes about four hours. At Fairfield, hair chalk and hair feathers add temporary color and accents that wash or style out, in about an hour.
Fashion color is planned at a consultation, so you can talk through the shade, the lightening needed and the upkeep before you commit.
Questions we hear about hair color
How often should I get my roots done?
It depends on how fast your hair grows and how visible the new growth is to you. Your stylist will suggest a schedule at your visit, and a hairline touch-up can fill the gap.
Can I color my hair if I have used box dye?
Often, yes, but tell your stylist what you have used and when. Box color can build up and react differently, so a consultation helps us plan the safest route.
Will color damage my hair?
Color changes the hair, and lightening affects it more than depositing color. A conditioning treatment and a good home routine help keep hair strong. Explore hair treatments to support it.
Can I choose my stylist?
Yes. Pick a stylist from our team when you book, and choose DeLand or Fairfield on the booking page.
Do I need a consultation first?
For color correction and fashion color, yes. For other color, a short consultation is part of the visit, and you can ask any questions on our FAQ page.
