What is Grey Blending?
As we age, one of the inevitable changes that we experience is the appearance of grey hair. For some people, grey hair may start appearing in their 20s, while for others, it may not happen until much later in life. Regardless of when it starts, blending grey hair is a concern for many people.
Blending grey hair can be done in a number of ways, and the method that you choose will depend on your personal preferences and lifestyle. One of the most common ways to blend grey hair is through the use of a semi-permanent hair color. This type of hair color stains the hair and will deposit tone that will stain the grey hair, but not cover it 100%. It creates a slight shift in tone that adds dimension to your look.
Semi-Permanent Hair Color
When blending grey it is important to have a color that is close to your natural hair color. If you have dark hair, a jet black or dark brown hair dye will likely make the grey hairs less noticeable. If you have lighter hair, a medium or light brown hair color may be more appropriate Even if you have a balayage or highlights not too close to the root, this can still be a "root shadow," or "root melt," to blend greys. After consulting with myself or another stylist, see what they recommend!

Highlights
Highlights are another way to blend grey as the lightness will blend the strands of grey in your hair. This can lead to a seamless and natural grow out, and even a toner in-between will help it always look blended. Fine highlights will help hide the greys and make them very unnoticeable, or not noticeable at all! This of course varies from person to person, and consulting with a professional would be helpful to know what will work for you!
Color- Depositing Products
Another option for blending grey hair is to use a color-depositing shampoo or conditioner. These products contain small amounts of hair dye and can help to tone down the appearance of grey hair without completely covering it up. Color-depositing shampoos and conditioners are available in a range of colors, so you can select one that is closest to your natural hair color. Check out some of our options here at The Warehouse Salon website.

If you are not interested in using hair dye or color-depositing products, another option for blending grey hair is to simply embrace it. Grey hair is a natural part of the aging process, and many people find it to be an attractive and distinguished look. If you are comfortable with your grey hair, there is no need to try to cover it up.
