  • These Haircuts Are Trending — But Which One Actually Suits You?

Every Haircut Looks Good on the Right Person

Scrolling through Instagram and TikTok, you would think every haircut works on everyone. But that is not how it works in real life. At The Warehouse Salon in Fairfield, NJ, we see clients come in with a screenshot on their phone and a look of hope on their face. And most of the time, we can make something close to what they want work. But sometimes, we need to steer them toward a version that will actually look good on them, not just on a model.

Here is the honest truth about the most popular cuts right now, and who they actually suit.

    The Italian Bob

This is the chin-length, slightly layered bob with that effortless European vibe. It is all over social media right now, and for good reason. It looks incredible on people with defined jawlines and medium to thick hair. Monroe has done dozens of these in the last few months and says the clients who love it most have naturally straight or slightly wavy hair.

If your hair is very fine, this cut can look a little limp. But you can make it work with the right products. The Lakme Teknia Body Maker Mist adds thickness and body that makes a bob look fuller. Spray it on damp hair before blow drying.

    The Long Shag

Layers, face framing, and a whole lot of texture. The long shag is the "cool girl" cut right now, and Jessica has been doing a ton of them for clients from Fairfield to Montclair. This cut works best on people with naturally wavy or textured hair, because the layers enhance what your hair already wants to do.

If your hair is very straight, you can still get this cut, but you will need to put in some effort to make it look right. A texture spray like the KMS HairPlay Playable Texture gives straight hair that undone, piece-y look that makes a shag work. Without it, the layers can look flat and disconnected.

    The Blunt Cut

One length, no layers, clean line at the bottom. This is the easiest cut to maintain and it looks sharp on almost everyone. Ann recommends it for clients with fine hair because that blunt edge creates the illusion of thickness. All the ends are at the same level, so it looks like you have more hair than you actually do.

On very thick hair, a blunt cut can look heavy. If your hair is thick, ask your stylist to keep the one-length shape but add some internal texturizing to remove bulk. This keeps the clean look without the triangle head effect.

    The Curtain Bangs

Still going strong, and honestly, we do not see them going anywhere soon. Curtain bangs work on nearly every face shape, which is why they are so popular. Dan has cut more curtain bangs in the last year than anything else. They soften the face, frame the eyes, and grow out gracefully, which is a huge plus.

The main thing to know is that they require regular trims. Every four to six weeks, you will need a quick cleanup to keep them looking intentional. Style them with a round brush and the Lakme Blowout Quick Blow Dry Spray for that perfect curtain shape.

    The Pixie

A great pixie cut is a statement. Patricia loves doing pixies and says the best candidates have strong bone structure and confidence. A pixie puts your face front and center, so there is nothing to hide behind. If you are thinking about it but feeling nervous, come in for a consultation first. We can talk through it and make sure it is right for you.

For styling a pixie, a little paste or wax is all you need. The ECRU New York Defining Paste gives texture and hold without looking stiff. Work a tiny amount through your fingers and piece out the layers. Takes about two minutes.

Bottom line: trends are a starting point, not a blueprint. Come see us at the salon and we will find the cut that makes you look and feel like yourself, just better.
