Purple Shampoo vs. Blue Shampoo, What is the Difference??

1 comment by Brianna Thompson

Hey there! Welcome back to The Warehouse Beauty Blog!

In today's blog I would love to talk about one of the most buzzed-about topics in the hair care world - purple and blue shampoos. These are not your ordinary shampoos, my friends. They are specifically designed to target those unwanted brassy orange and or yellow tones that can ruin your perfect hair day.

What is Purple or Blue Shampoo?

So, what exactly are purple and blue shampoos? Let me break it down for you. Both of these shampoos are toning shampoos that contain pigments to neutralize unwanted tones. The only difference lies in the color of the pigment.

Purple shampoos, as the name suggests, contain purple pigments. These pigments work to counteract any brassy yellow tones in blonde or silver hair. On the other hand, blue shampoos contain blue pigments that neutralize orange like tones in darker hair colors.

Now, before you go crazy with these shampoos, let me remind you that they are not meant to be used every day. Overuse of these shampoos can lead to dry and damaged hair, so use them with caution.

Another thing to keep in mind is that not all brands are created equal. Some can be too harsh on your hair, while others may not be potent enough to neutralize the tones you want to target. So, make sure you buy a good quality shampoo that will not dry out your hair! Here are some of my favorite purple and blue shampoos:

Purple Shampoos

IGK BLONDE POP Purple Toning Shampoo

Verb Purple Shampoo

Milk Shake Silver Shine Shampoo

Blue Shampoos

Oligo Professionnel Blacklight Blue Shampoo

SuddzFX Ambition Blonde Brightening Shampoo

Which One do I Use?

So, which one should you choose? It all depends on your hair color and the tones you want to neutralize. If you have blonde or silver hair, go for a purple shampoo. If you have darker hair with orange or red tones, go for a blue shampoo.

In conclusion, purple and blue shampoos are excellent additions to your hair care routine if used correctly. They can be fun and effective, but remember to not overdo it. And with the right brand, you can say goodbye to those unwanted tones and hello to hair that looks fabulous and healthy.
